This year’s World Tea Expo East 2012 show in Philadelphia will once again be about everything and anything tea. In addition to being able to sample the plethora of delicious teas on the show floor, there are going to be a number of Education Conferences for those seeking to quench their thirst for more tea knowledge! Starting the day before the show and going on all the way to the last day, two of these such conferences will be hosted by members from Aiya America! For anyone attending the show, we would love for you to plan one (or both) of these conferences into your schedule:
Monday, October 1st: World Origin Tasting Tour – Japan
Aiya’s very own James Oliveira will be presenting about Japanese Tea during the World Origin Tasting Tour. He will introduce and speak about Japan’s tea history, tea regions, tea varieties, and, of course, Matcha. For seasoned Japanese Tea experts and novices alike, James will take you on a guided tour of Japan and its teas. Attendees will also be able to taste Aiya’s 2012 Award Winning Loose Leaf Tea Champion varieties. If you ever found yourself wanting to know more about Japanese teas, Matcha, or the industry that produces them, this is the conference for you!
Wednesday, October 3rd: Focused Tasting/Workshop – Making the Perfect Bowl of Matcha
From 11:30-1:00 of the last day of the show, Aiya’s General Manager, Fumi Sugita, will be doing an in depth Matcha presentation. Starting with the basics of Matcha, Fumi will teach the techniques necessary to make the perfect bowl of Matcha. A few members of the audience will even be able to participate in the event. Attendees will also learn more about how Matcha is used “non-traditionally” in the American marketplace as well as what cues to look for to judge a high quality Matcha from an imitation. If you are a Matcha enthusiast or Matcha beginner, this workshop will be chock full of useful Matcha information.
